If all I need is incoming calls on a dedicated pay as you go sim, what do the various networks charge to keep you connected / active? I know they expect you to make a call every now and then or top up etc.

Anyone know what they each charge / require? I'm looking at least possible hassle.

Telkom Sim Sonke

Telkom Sim Sonke is best. If you go to Telkom they will give you the sim card for free and call costs are 29c Telkom to Telkom and 79c to anyone else.

Also if you are going to use it on a smartphone or tab get the Telkom mobile app. Easy to buy data and load airtime

3 months is correct and you must receive calls. No extra charges on all networks, but with Cell C you must be careful. You will find that you can't make emergency call even with a valid airtime. Cell C will freeze your airtime after certain amount of time forcing you to recharge again and again.

With MTN you have to recharge with a voucher R30 or more, smaller amounts will expire.

Perfect, thanks

I think it is 3 or 4 months before they go inactive.
I imagined something like this

Great info, thanks a ton!
