why is that?
If you upgrade four months early, those four months get tacked on at the end of your new contract.
Let's say you upgrade early three contracts in a row and then decide you want to change providers or switch to prepaid.
Those three early upgrades add up to an extra year, so at the end of it you'll be sitting with a three-year-old phone or having to pay cancellation fees.

Greanbean32 I'm in Cape Town. Friend of mine has signed papers etc but now they are giving him slack as to stock as well. I also noticed that RBM200 on the S2 deal has changed to 200 airtime not minutes (as per pamphlet) weird. Are there any other good android phones with a similar deal at other service providers?

Thanks for that I will PM you. I wonder why the change to R200 airtime. Guess you have to lose something to get the S2 :) have confirmed with CellC rep on twitter and it is def R200. So basically 133 minutes per month at the RBM rate of R1.50 per minute

My upgrade due date for my Red Bull Mobile contract was a few days ago but I have had no luck finding out what phone I can upgrade to. Damn annoying! Why can't Cell C just sort this out?!!

So the Galaxy S2 is the only new phone available for Red Bull Mobile upgrades, so I placed my order with Cell C. Not bad for such a cheap contract.

That's not cool. I took out 2 of those contracts at the beginning of the month and due to the ambiguous advert in the pamphlet I asked in-store whether it's 200 minutes or R200 airtime and I was told that it's the former. Can you please post a picture of the advert?

There's a download link at the bottom of the monthly booklet page:
Go to their website ,then go to franchise booklet ,on page 23.

Even in the pamphlet it is ambiguous. It shows "200 Airtime p/m" but doesn't specify the unit. It could be minutes, Rands or cats.

Thanks!

Yep this is exactly what led to me asking them if it's 200 minutes. And when I got home I did a bit of research and I saw that RBM 200 does usually give 200 minutes so my mind was at ease, and now this. This should be fun to sort out :(

In store I was told that it is R200 airtime, not minutes. So 133.3 minutes. So if you need those 66.7 minutes it will now cost you R100/month for the airtime that you have lost by upgrading.

Yes, very deceiving. Not impressed but one can't be surprised when any of our big telecoms companies try to screw/con us.

It could make sense it new contract billing is 99c/pm like in straight up contracts. Who knows, maybe it was a plan?
