Lars Henning replied to another email.

"
The Red Bull MOBILE team is currently improving the Red Bull value proposition for both prepaid and postpaid customers. We plan to have the revised offers available by the end of February 2013 if not sooner. Further details regarding offers will be disclosed as soon as possible.
"

This was evidently a canned copy/paste PR response as the font was different from the rest of his email :D
LMAO - Poor guy probably gets flooded with queries about WTH is going with RBM South Africa :D

Red Bull Mobile = Duke Nukem Forever?!

I was a RBM fan because their RBM200 deal was really good value for money - pretty much unmatched by anyone else in the market but they'll really need to deliver and soon. Cell C has made it VERY attractive to move to their Supacharge offering.

Shot an email to Lars Henning. Got a reply in no time.
Looks like the Samsung Nexus is on the cards real soon, then some newer phones in short order.
Lars mentioned that SUPACHARGE tariff options might also be offered alongside CellC contract options.

The Samsung Nexus looks like a great piece of hardware!

No FM radio, though :(

Holding thumbs that the Samsung Nexus deal was worth the long wait for me!

Well I've been on Red Bull Mobile RBM200 contract, and I'm very happy with the offering. I never spent anything over the R250 - it was a perfect fit for my profile. Not many calls, lots of SMS and data-heavy.

I'm due for an upgrade, but nobody can tell me what is going on with the whole Red Bull Offering! I said, fine, I'll take the Galaxy S3 upgrade on the straight up 100 for R329, but no, you cannot upgrade from RBM to a CellC contract. You have to wait until the contract is finished, or cancel the contract and pay cancellation fees. My LG P970 (really just an OK phone) went swimming in the sea with me recently and is now, through no fault of its own, barely functional. So I'm desperate for a handset.

But as far as I can see, the handsets are still the same as two years ago, which is really pathetic. The handsets were hardly cutting edge when the package was released two years ago, there is no way I will go another two years with the current crop of handsets, not when there are Galaxy Notes and SIII's on offer.

So my only option really is to cancel the contract, go prepaid, and then go onto a regular Cell C contract.

The whole Red Bull thing seems to have been badly managed, if not managed at all!
It's just a messy mission to get all this sorted. Irritated, is what I am now.....

Is it a good deal? I agree that in comparison to the ~30 month old handsets on RBM it is... but isn't it better to just port back to Cell C?

Talking Value for money, nothing comes close to the RBM 200 package.

Well... depends. Yes, if you compare to a straight up 200 @ R200, and bolt on an extra 300mb data its R245, then technically you're getting a phone for free on RBM200.

BUT, you could get a iphone 5 16gb with the same benefits as RBM200 for R399 pm - so R150p.m. for the phone? I don't think that's bad value...

Yes that doesn't look bad either. I didn't think 300MB is that cheap.

Basically R195 pm extra for the iphone + 300MB data
x24 =R4680 extra for a R8k phone VS a free R4k phone.

I'm include the latest correpondence I got from Cell C regarding my Red Bull Contract which is now due for upgrade:

I got a great response from their store rep, Andriana.

The response to her query from customer service is pretty pathetic.

Not a happy camper.

Dear Mr. xxxx

Regrettably, I do not have good news

Please see Cell C’s response below

Good day,

Unfortunately the contract has to be migrated to pre-paid as the RBM contract does not exist and cannot be migrated to other package.

Regards,

Subject: Mr. xxxx - 083xxxxxxx RBM Mobile deal

Good day

Re: Mr. xxxx - 083xxxxxxx RBM Mobile deal

The customer has 2 months remaining and needs to renew as his handset is liquid damaged

I would like to avoid the process of cancellation and migration to prepaid and then back onto contract if possible please

Is there any way that his line could be migrated and renewed to a STRAIGHT UP POST PAID 100 @ R 329 with the Samsung Galaxy SIII?

Your urgent assistance is appreciated

Kind regards

Andriana

Hi,

In terms of the handsets, we expect to have new handsets available towards the end of March beginning April on new packages, we will continue to engage the RBM team regarding this matter and will provide an update.

In the beginning of November you said 2-3 months for the new deals. I hope it doesn't change again...
