Hi,

In terms of the handsets, we expect to have new handsets available towards the end of March beginning April on new packages, we will continue to engage the RBM team regarding this matter and will provide an update.

Wow, with due respect.

The whole RBM is becoming a fiasco. Nobody seems to know what's going on... Go into any Cell C store and you'll get a different story.

Since many of us early adopters signed up in April 2011, our contracts now 'qualify for an upgrade'. They really should have new deals available now, not at the end of March.

We seemed to be locked in to this contract to the bitter end, and every time I go into a Cell C shop I see normal Cell C customers merrily upgrading their contracts whilst I am told there is no option for my contract. One does start to get resentful..

All I can say is, that the RBM issue is damaging the Cell C brand, because regardless of the contractual arrangements, whenever I deal with anybody about the RBM lack of upgrade choice, it's a Cell C employee, a Cell C shop, a Cell C Call Centre or the Cell C information system. So all the bad news is delivered to me by the Cell C brand.

+1

Just to add, my contract is expiring in early March... So waiting 3~4 weeks for the unknown is a bit of an annoyance. Do you expect me to convert to prepaid and wait?

What is the easiest way to check when the contract expires/upgrade date? I think mine is going to expire in April.

I went in to a store to ask about the new deals (they said its discontinued by the way) and just asked the guy to check for me on their system
mine ends on the 21/10/2013, hopefully just intime to get the S4

I've been due for an upgrade since November so I'm not holding my breath.

I'm glad to report that Cell C contacted me to 'help' after my post.

Somebody told me, If you do not like what is being done to you, cry. Cry publicly. This seemed to have worked.

So thanks Cell C, for responding to my crying :)

But seriously, you need to do something about the Red Bull story! Nobody knows what the heck is going on, and like I said, lots of people who signed up 2 years ago will be wanting to upgrade. Upgrading means a handset that is sort of current, not one that is more than 2 years old, not when regular Cell C customers are upgrading to Galaxy SIII's !

But credit where credit is due, thanks Cell C.

I'm on a RBM200 which should be expiring soon, I dialled *147# and chose option 7, filled in my details. The response showed that my upgrade date is the 28 Feb 2013

However, when I called CellC direct on 084145 and checked there, the response was that my upgrade date is 29 March 2013
So which date is correct?

I've just returned from the Pinelands Branch of Cell C, to confirm availability of the Nokia Lumia 920.
When the store manager checked my upgrade eligibility, this was the result:

1:
I am on a Redbull Mobile 200 post paid contract, this contract expires on the 29/06/2013.
However I cannot "upgrade" to a Nokia Lumia 920 on a Straight Up 100 @ R399pm.

My options are that I would either have to buy out the balance of the RBM contract for an amount of R540.28 (this amount is not payable in-store and has to be paid via direct deposit to Cell C) and start a new contract,

or take out a new contract and continue to pay the RBM contract, this would mean I would have to pay R399pm + R249pm until the RBM contract ends (additionally because would have to take out a new contract I would be given a new number which would then have to be changed to my current number when the RBM contract moves to prepaid).

2:
Although the phone is advertised in the in-store booklet, there are none available in the Cape Town and it is unclear when stock will be available.

I've confirmed all the above telephonically with other Cell C stores in the area and they have stated the same information

So for now I'll have to wait for my current contract to mature, as it is not possible to "upgrade" an RBM contract.

this might be technically possible, but im not sure that you will actually be able to get the number changed

Is there no decent phone I can do a straight upgrade to from my RBM 200 contract? My upgrade is way overdue. I tried again at my closest Cell C store and they don't know anything about any new RBM phones.

It's utterly frustrating! Piss poor IMHO.

I can see the only solution here is to cancel at the end of the contract and take your money elsewhere, its a pity this has been handled so poorly from Redbull Mobile/CellC's side, its has great potential. This is what I am going todo next month when my wife's contract ends.

My contract is coming to an end as well and rather going to go directly to Cell C, see no real benefit sitting with another defy from RBM...

Hi Cell_C

I remember what an utter pain in the a$$ it was to move from a CasualChat to RBM, have you guys resolved the system so that this is nice and seamless? Or should I prepare myself for another 3 weeks of utter frustration?
