The influential pro-Trump community broke the rules on harassment and targeting, said Reddit, which also banned other groups.

SAN FRANCISCO — Reddit, one of the largest social networking and message board websites, on Monday banned its biggest community devoted to President Trump as part of an overhaul of its hate speech policies.

The community or “subreddit,” called “The_Donald,” is home to more than 790,000 users who post memes, viral videos and supportive messages about Mr. Trump. Reddit executives said the group, which has been highly influential in cultivating and stoking Mr. Trump’s online base, had consistently broken its rules by allowing people to target and harass others with hate speech.

Something, something, when it rains it pours, something...

Twitch temporarily bans President Trump

Twitch has temporarily banned President Donald Trump, in the latest surprise and high-profile suspension from the streaming service. Trump’s account was banned for “hateful conduct” that was aired on stream, and Twitch says the offending content has now been removed.

One of the streams in question was a rebroadcast of Trump’s infamous kickoff rally, where he said that Mexico was sending rapists to the United States. Twitch also flagged racist comments at Trump’s recent rally in Tulsa.

“Like anyone else, politicians on Twitch must adhere to our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. We do not make exceptions for political or newsworthy content, and will take action on content reported to us that violates our rules,” a Twitch spokesperson told The Verge. The statement was originally issued last year when Trump’s channel was launched.

The suspension arrives a week after Twitch swore it would crack down on harassment within the community following reports of assault and harassment from streamers. It’s a sign that Twitch may be starting to take moderating streams a lot more seriously. The racist language it banned Trump for is often allowed on other platforms due to his role as a politician and president of the United States.

Not sure why they've banned it now. It's been locked for months. No one has been able to post anything anyway.

Uhm... it is what you quoted. If you do not understand what the man said and the fairly obvious implications, why post it at all?
Peterson doesnt like certain people (presumably those he doesnt like) defining hate speech.
Therefore he says that the people defining hate speech should not be doing so.
By saying this he is suggesting which people (ie, "not them") should be defining hate speech, presumably people he does like.
By doing so he is stating who can define hate speech.
This is a typical logical error of a type Peterson regularly makes.

Was that simple enough for you?

...late the party, I'm 'fraid; 'The_Donald' was effectively banned months ago via 'mod takeover'.

"The people who will define hate speech are exactly the people you don't want to define hate speech." - Jordan Peterson on Freedom of speech
Reddit are perfectly fine with hate speech so long as it's targeted at the right group
While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect all groups or all forms of identity. For example, the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority or who promote such attacks of hate.
