No kids. Except for my fur baby who absolutely loves swimming.
ok, that will save you a lot on covers :) Although it's still not a bad idea for cover it... saves a lot on chems and water evaporation ... just with the shape of the pool it's going to be difficult. I also have solar and a salt water chlorinator and a cover, although pool is muuuuch smaller, very seldom have to add any water

Hi

I am considering buying a property but my only concern is the swimming pool is massive and I would like to get it reduced otherwise solar heating and maintenance is going to be a killer. Is it possible to reduce a pool and what costs am I looking at to reduce it to 6x3. See pic attached of what it currently looks like.all advice will be highly appreciated thanks

I build swimming pools for a living, I would suggest you vet the building plans prior to purchasing that property. The swimming pool seems awfully close to the actual building and it may be in breach of regulations.

Reducing the size of the swimming pool is an expensive exercise, if you're buying the property with the aim of reducing the pool I would say budget at least 100k.

Maintenance on the pool need not be too expensive provided you keep the chemical balance in check and ensure that whatever heating option you're going to use you get a quote for a proper cover.

I'm in Cape Town by the way, you're more than welcome to PM me for further advice

How about an electronic cover for this pool? Is that going to be difficult because of the shape? And will I not need one for the heating aspect of it.

Very costly and difficult for the shape. A bubble cover will prob be the easiest. You don't need it for the solar heating but it will definately be more effective

That pool and house is crying out to have some kind of deck going out over a portion of the pool so you can create a grotto underneath it :p

Alternatively :p remove pool, removed mine last year, popped grass in and irrigation for the property super happy with the decision.

All i can recommend is that you dont make a rushed decision, you haven't even bought the property yet the pool in my mind factors low on the list of priorities. Just my 2c

I was going to, but after seeing the joy on the kids faces as they used my pool over summer I just couldn't. My only issue is I've got to find out who's kids they are and how they got into my pool though.

The issue should be how to lure them into the basement
