Anyone ever registered a company in Mauritius before?
Tax rate is under 3%, there is no capital gains tax and no exchange controls.
South African companies that house their international wings in Mauritius include mobile telecommunication operators Vodacom and MTN, as well as packaged goods company Tiger Brands and beverages giant SABMiller.

gangsters, drugs, someone I know move over there for six months, then he realize this place is not for a normal family guy. He saw a golden opportunity like the op.

Be sure to research it well before taking the leap. There were many reports of the possible change in the current tax agreement between the two countries, and it may well be changed soon. Many companies are saving money (pay 15% tax in Mauritius, get 12% back when paying dividends, pay 15% when bringing the money back into SA – hence saving 10% on the 28% SA tax rate), but this may not last for much longer.

We have clients there, nothing dodgy, no discrepancies that we picked up. I also personally know two guys operating a taxi-scooter/scooter rental business which is growing exceptionally well, they are both SA citizens.

Mauritius is a cess-pit. Forget about the manicured resorts that tourists see. The rest of the island is a dump. Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me. I've been there several times with a Mauritian friend of mine, so I've seen the "real" Mauritius. Even my Mauritian friend admits the place is a dump.
