Hi all.

My father is relocating to Capetown in a few weeks (Job transfer) . I do not know Capetown very well and trying to find accommodation and a good area to stay in is always a stress.

Can anyone provide me with some insight as to what will be good area to stay in. He will be working in Beaconvale area so anything closer to that area.

Trying to find a 1 or 2 bedroom granny cottage (furnished if possible), kitchen, lounge and preferably a small garden as he has one cat and his own vehicle.

Thanks so much. I'll try search places to rent in those areas. Any other places within Capetown that are good, that fall just a little further away?

Pinelands and Thornton are nice areas and close enough for commuting not to be an issue. (he'd be traveling counter traffic)

I don't know what the rental market is like, but that sounds like plenty from a budget perspective.

Now im going to be criticised.

I personally would not live in Goodwood/Parow/Thornton or Pinelands.

It all differs person to person. Depends on travel ability, i would look at Durbanville, parts of Belliville etc

Thanks guys. I'll definitely look in those areas. Just so hard to find a place that's accommodating a cat as well. I found a place in Boston that looks nice. Does anyone know what that area is like?

"Good" is relative but as for distance to work, try Loevenstein (follow the M16 from Beaconvale up just across the N1 - on the left). Also look at Vredelust/Boston before the N1 on the right - between N1 and Frans Conradie Dr.). Boston is ok a few blocks down towards Voortrekker....say up to 6th Ave.

Would be more helpful if you actually stated why you don't like those areas.
