Renault is mostly built from Nissan parts. Which makes them cheaper to run and service. And waaay more reliable than not just other French brands, but anything that isn't Japanese.
Anyone classing Renault specifically under traditional French stereotypes is retarded. Mostly just idiots harping on the same old tune with no understanding of the fundamental changes they've undergone...
I disagree here, in fact it’s the other way around. Nissan uses a lot of Renault motors (1.2Tand 1.3T, whatever Motor the Magnaite/Kiger uses, 1.5l diesel, 1.6l diesel, 2l Diesel and the 2.3l Diesel). Parts and Servicing is also more expensive than with Nissan.
And we were quoted R130k for a auto box for a car valued at R155k, on my old Renault Captur. Sold it and got into a Duster. Amazing platform. Brilliant engine. Same crappy Double Clutch that will **** the bed eventually. Previous car was a Clio 1.2T, same engine and gearbox combo as the Captur and at Year 4 the engine needed replacing, which Renault did without hassle. But I flogged it and bought a Captur.
Renault makes amazing cars, but as soon as the car has 1 year of warranty left you flog it.
Once the Duster is up, I’m looking at the new Captur.
