Hi Guys

I have been trying to look for a solution. If someone can give me just a bit of advise it could help a lot.
I have 3 traffic fines outstanding. I must renew my cars license disk at the end of the month but i don't have enough money to also pay the outstanding fines. Will they refuse to let me renew my cars license with those outstanding fines? They are only 2 x R250 and one R500. But as i am a bit broke....

Don't take my word for it but I think you get 21 days grace for the license, not sure if that would help you.

I don't thing they do that yet, Aarto is not implemented yet. I have an outstanding fine on my name and renewed last week with no problems.

I'm not sure if this will help but here is my story
1) last year in May 2012 I was driving from PE to CT and got caught in Mobile Trap for 142km per hour
2) Traffic Officer issued me a fine of R200 just outside Mossel Bay on the N2 after she told me to pull over.
3) Summons never came afterwards etc
4) This year in Feb/March I had the Car License renewed.
5) so I got away without having to pay that R200 fine.

If the fines do show up they should show up as "Due after". This means you can license your vehicle without having to settle the amount due for the fines.

The problem is dealing with a Cashier who may insist on the whole amount. You may need to ask for someone higher up and hope like hell they know enough to accept just the license fees and let the transaction through.

I know that I have a number of fines outstanding which I don't pay out of principle as I have never received a single fine through registered mail as is required by AARTO.

I renewed my car licence at the Post Office 2 weeks ago with no issues in the slightest.

You don't get asked to pay fines at vehicle license renewal...

Now I feel bitter and twisted.

Spent a year in SA 2 years ago and did a few months trip JHB-KZN-CT-JHB.

My daughter got a bunch of fines in the post - for me.
Paid the damned things.

A pox on everybody.

For update purposes.

I just renewed both my vehicles and both have multiple outstanding fines.
I have 2 updated discs without paying a cent for a fine.

So much for aarto and enazi... they cannot withhold your licence for unpaid fines. Or eTolls for that matter either.

Same here, , I must just add that the PO refused to renew my license, but when I went to traffic dept. I had no issues.

They will only refuse to licence your vehicle if you have a warrant.
Happened to me last year with a fine I just forgot about :p
