Just confirmed what I read as well. Just hoping the price comes down. I am paying for a laptop and a phone about R750 a month so just getting a phone, I think R500 a month odd, still saving R250

I've had the Mate 8 for a brief moment. Its really well made and was very snappy when performing tasks. I'd recommend it over a Samsung purely based on the price because the equivalent Samsung is not worth the price difference. Just be warned that the phone is massive and getting accessories for it isn't easy

I don't usually bother much for accessories as I don't keep a phone for too long... But for me the minimum is a cover and tempered glass screen protector and that seemed difficult to get

The price of the Mate 8 put me off, so I ended up going for the Mate 7 as an upgrade to my Galaxy Note 4. Slightly lower specs than the 8, but still miles better for the price than any comparable Samsung, Sony, etc.

There's a reason why Huawei are the 3rd largest phone producer in the world

I've got a P8 and definitely looking to stick with Huawei going forward. (or, if I can get one the Google Nexus 6P which is made by Huawei anyway). To me the Nexus 6P is the perfect android phone, the only problem is it's lack of availability locally. You either have to pay cash through Orange Store or pay an exorbitant amount on a contract with Cellucity. If the Mate 8 is too pricey, maybe consider the Mate S? The P9 should also be a bit cheaper, but you don't get the same screen size.
