Already been done on pos level for shops with the knowhow/software. Well, the systems not run by dinosaurs.

You know that information you are already passing on as you shop being gathered, analyzed an sold back to participating stores.

Hell, you might be surprised who knows what about you where based on 'pos scraping' and even ai number plate reading.
Is there anyway for me as a customer to make use of that (I mean my personal data - / till slips, not that of others)?

I just updated the Checkers app last week, but didn't know about the digital slip option.

I've always wanted to reduce how many slips I end up with and throw away.

Yeah it's fine, I will rather take the printed receipt. Whenever I have been asked to send me my slip digitally, they want my email and you have to accept the T and C of them able to send you marketing crap. It's cool they can keep the digital **** until they use it for proper and not for some marketing scam

PnP.. u just set it in SmartShopper which has all your past purchases anyway.

They still print credit card &/or charge handling stubs as required by law. It makes things slightly faster in the longer month end shopping where you pay with contactless or qr and the packer was working diligently.

I like the idea of getting my till slips electronically, I do with PnP & Makro. So I down loaded the Checkers app for IOS and tried. It asks for your phone number and then says it is going to send you an SMS with a pin number. Well, here we are a day later, several attempts later and I have still to receive the SMS. If they can't get that right I don't think I'll bother with their app! I'll be deleting it today!

Makro does it as well. Handy when searching for that elusive receipt when you need to make a warranty claim. Of course Makro insists on also printing a receipt because they need you to prove you didn't steal anything when you leave the store.

Couldn't care less about groceries though.
Really does my head in, if I spend R1000s at your store treat me like royalty not like I am goofing off with an extra TV or a can of bake beans.

Not getting it myself as well. Called them up and the lady said there might be delays. She send me an email verification mail but that doesn't help me at all since you can only login on the app via your mobile nr lol.

I'd start over and set up a profile using your email address on the Checkers website. I originally signed up via email, and my profile works.

I hardly go there anymore - I used to buy big ticket items there for the ebucks, now it's not worth the effort.

You can also log in via a browser.

Great way of generating data sets on individual customers as well as attributing ads to in store purchase.

If you're using a gmail account use the + feature to track who's leaking your email address.

myemail+checkers@gmail.com
myemail+woolworths@gmail.com

If you're using something like lastpass then it's also no effort to have to remember the different email addresses you use for logins.

Been doing that for years and it helped me determine that Vodacom may as well just make their user db public to the world, since they give it away to everyone in any case.

Mr Price also does this.

A small issue with this is if the user enters their email address incorrectly, they will never receive their receipt.. Mr Price requires you to punch in your address each time.

There needs to be zero touch i.e. linked to a loyalty card like Makro

That was not what I saw. Someone I know shops there and everything is on the system if you use their card. Emails the receipts upon payment.

What card? Their account card? Or do they have a loyalty card?

Sadly very true, they in procession of contact details, which the consumer is not always prepared to give but in the end forced to comply to...
My concern is that the prices on the selves is more than often not the price on the slip, how will the consumer be able to check the slip, rectify or return the items etc. if for argument sake the consumer does not have a phone, or data or no signal/network.
This might benefit the company but definitely not the consumer...
And as said in a previous message, they then send you spam email which you didn't ask for neither did they ask your permission...
