For the past 8 months I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact anyone within the DOC to discuss IPTV and Set Top Boxes in detail.
No one seems interested or remotely focused on doing their jobs or sharing information perhaps.
If anyone out there can provide me with contact details of any SENIOR official i.e Mamodupi Mohlala (Director General of the DOC) or Minister Nyanda, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it is some black women own company.
Try the sabc, or even worse, sentech. they might have a hand in it.

What?!?!?!

oh and ICT, good luck unfortunately, the set top boxes will be built by a BEE company that has been pre-selected due to its shareholding having a family member of the DoC upper echelons..... as for IPTV... in SA, don't bother for another 5 years minimum...

The fastest way would be to send a letter by W-mail (Winston-mail)

Seriously, though, good luck with finding the relevant contact details. As ToxicBunny mentioned - we are not even remotely ready for IPTV yet. In a country where 384kbit/s rules the roost, it's going to take a while.

haha... good luck with that. The last time I sent an e-mail to the DoC it bounced.

Actually there is already a few IPTV solutions installed in this country. IPTV doesn't mean it is running over Telkom lines... Gated villages, hotels etc, is where these systems are being installed and quoted on, right now.

Yeah, but they don't necessarily need DoC approval or anything like that do they?

Nope... and I don't know why the OP wants to speak to them about that. So ICT, you are barking up the wrong tree in my opinion.

I have a solution that will assist with the switch over from analogue to digital that doesn't require expensive television sets and can receive HDMI signals with a host of other features.
Unfortunately, the DOC is driving this process and I will need to bark up this tree for some time to come it seems.
