I've got an assignment for a Manufacturing subject in which we need to investigate a local research institute "whose current activities are geared towards driving local manufacturing and servicing operations to its peak in South Africa" and then list a few points such as:

- (recent) major activities, carried out by each identified research institutions in driving local manufacturing
- discuss the economic importance of these aforementioned activities of each research institution in on South Africa
- discuss the challenges these identified research institutions are facing in achieving their goals.
- Propose and discuss any four relevant strategies that could be utilized by this research institutions in overcoming their challenges using the lessons learnt from their counterparts in developed countries.

If anyone is aware of a specific institution working locally on any such project and can point me in the direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm only aware of such projects that the CSIR is involved with. I've been away for a year though, so I'm not sure of the status of these projects, but should be worth checking out. Here are the ones I'm aware of:

I hope that helps!
