So I woke up at 5 this morning to play the Resident Evil 5 demo I downloaded.

I fell asleep before it was done, hehehe

Started it up and chose the first level, can’t remember name it’s the one with the axe/meat tenderiser man. First impression I got was the look of the game, it’s got great lighting and quite colourful as opposed to RE4 which was pretty brown and grey.

I struggled with which control scheme to use cause I couldn’t remember what the RE4 controls were, then again it was 5am and I was still bit drowsy. I chose the D setup (default one) which kinda works nicely since its ver y much like Uncharted L1-aim R1-shoot. The fact that you can’t move around while shooting gives this game a real edge in terms of urgency and claustrophobia. The shear amount of enemies attacking you at the start had me resorting to my knife cause of ammo constraints. Man this game just took me back, classic Resident Evil stuff.

I haven’t found the partnering with Sheva a problem as she at least helps you out. Sticks some health in you when you low and kicks an enemy that’s got you in a strangle hold. I guess the only trouble is helping her out as well which can be somewhat of a pain. I’ll try out the co-op with my brother tonight to see how it actually is. Also the real-time menu is a bit of a pain cause enemies are quite relentless.

All in all I was pretty impressed from what little I’ve played. I’ve been a long time fan and been waiting for this one for quite some time, even watchedDegenaration to build this up as it basically is Resident Evil 4.5 to buikd up the hype. My critique of this game is pretty biased being a long time fan. All I can say is if you want Dead Space controls then go play Dead Space, this is Resident Evil it’s meant to have "crappy" controls. I'll definitely be getting it after KZ2 :D

Sounds cool. I don't get the "crappy controls" gripe people seem to have. I never felt Resi 4's control scheme was crappy - it's how it SHOULD be, and you need to adopt and outwit enemies with this particular control scheme in mind. The survival-horror genre is all about slower/limited movements, sometimes cramped environments etc - not every game should have the same feel - already too much generic, samey games out there at the moment in any case.

I officialy love this game!!
My bro and I done the co-op last night, man it's something else.
I can't see playing the game alone, it's too friggin hard. The hand gun is feeling like a pea-shooter but then again thats standard.

Enemies are damn near relentless I tell you and they're quicker than before.
Even the chainsaw guy is more vicious he runs at you full force as opposed to Dr. Salvador in 4 who kinda ran in slow-motion. Took down the executioner guy last night man it took quite a lot of shotgun shells to bring him down.

For everyone who loved the Resident Evil 4 I recommend you get this, it's GREAT FUN!

WTF?! All other games had white with few black mixed in. I hate the bloody racist card.

Just checking out the trailers for RE5. Damn! The graphics are awesome! Wesker reminds me of T-Bag in Prison Break. A fscking die hard! I want! I want! Right now! Now I'm gonna have to play RE4 on my PS2 again, to curb the withdrawal symtoms.

I have to say that im slightly disappointed that RE5 feels very much the same as RE4, however, thats not neccesarily a BAD thing as RE4 rocked my socks off.

Go CAPCOM!
