Hi there, I just wanted to say that I have found a new respect for all you technical guys at Vodacom. I met someone yesterday from Vodacom in Johannesburgh. Rajen a Technical Guru :D He explained to me how the whole 3G thing works and he made me realise more than ever that I really need to get it. You guys work under alot of pressure all the time and I would like to say keep up the good work. You guys are great... no the best!!!!!!

I am also getting tired of waiting for an ADSL line - methinks I must get the data card. I just don't like the 2 yr contract thing. Will they drop the monthly rental if their prices come down? Also, with the ADSL issue - there is a possibility that those costs are also going to come down i.v.o. various issues raised by ICASA.

Also, a question pse (maybe a bit off topic)- if I connect to the internet with a laptop via a SE V800 with the Vodacom AP. Will I get connected via 3G (if in a 3G area) or only via GPRS. The VLive AP does not want to connect to the internet via the laptop. If this is the case I can just get a 3G bundle instead of the datacard..(although not very cool)
Thanks

If the device you connect with, supports 3G and you have 3G reception , then yes you will connect via 3G. If there's no reception you fall back to whatever is available [GPRS/EDGE] etc etc. So yes, just load a bundle [or subscribe to one every month].....of course you can just go straight R2 p/MB and not load any bundles :P

Diabolus

Thanks for the info - can't wait to try it at home (no 3G yet - due middle August according to V3G). Can get it fine at work, PTA CBD, via SammyMarks cell but have not tested using the V800 as a modem in 3G enabled area.

I got my Sony Ericsson V800 today, and all I can say is wow!
Spoke to Andre at Vodacom4U shop in Clearwater, excellent service all the way.
Phoned Vodacom Customer Support, got the GRPS settings.

I can only say Thanks Vodacom. Excellent Service Levels. :)
