In preparation for the Duo 2 release i've been looking for as many retailers as possible in my area (jhb) and in particular online who will be able to supply a built machine. After the DOT thang im sceptical to say the least.

Any links (if allowed) for the various online places?
So far i got prophecy, take2, digital planet and kalahari. If anyone could recommend as more reliable, well stocked, good service sites/stores/businesses please PM me or post which ever is allowed by myadsl.

Regards

The problem is that virtually NONE of the online stores will hold stock...that is in fact one way they manage to keep their costs down.

I don't normally buy hardware online, but I recently found some stuff I wanted at Prophecy. I was extremely impressed with their helpfulness and the speed of delivery ( to KZN ) from time of order.

www.sybaritic.co.za is also good & reliable :)

I've bought from alot of online shops, Sybaritic is good, and I'm also a huge take2 fan, although they may be more expensive than the rest. My buddy is an NGR fanatic and small unknown online shop eshopper.co.za also has my support, haven't bought from prophesy yet, let me see..... :)

I would suggest you buy from a dealer on a forum. I don't know if i may advertise this here, but there is a Dealer called Syndicate over at the SystemShock Forums, i buy all my hardware from him, and prices are always WAY lower than what i would pay at an online store.

Just got a marketing call from Intel - seems they're most likely only going to be in stock in September.

According to ClNET the launch will be on the 27th of July.

The Core 2 Duo will be unveiled at an event scheduled for July 27 at Intel's headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., a company spokesman confirmed Tuesday. Intel CEO Paul Otellini and other executives will be on hand to unveil the chip that marks the end of Intel's Pentium era.

Yeah, that will indeed be the launch - but they said stock's only going to be coming in during September. That's straight from Intel SA

Sybaritic is very good, as noted above.

Matrix Warehouse has a crappish site, but if there is a shop in your area you might get good help there.

BuyComputers might not be the cheapest, but I've had very good service from them in the past.

And lastly, Cyberdyne has been with us for a long time.

Good luck!

Hi,

I would recommend my site: bluesting.co.za

On the right there are MANY online stores, among the better ones (That I have good click-through rates for, indicating competative prices) are:

Sybaritic
Shop365
Origin Technologies
NGR Computers
Digital Fun
Simplicity Online
Netcomtech

Kalahari and TechDigital are in my opinion a bit overpriced on many items compared to some of the less well known stores, many of which are good honest folk just trying to make an honest living! Many of their items have just not been updated frequently enough! As items come down in price, it's critical that merchants update their pricing, it's no excuse to have 50,000 items and most are overpriced because of no maintenance!

Hope this helps someone!

My new modem

I bought and paid online (R601, Credit Card, not EFT, includes R59 delivery) for a new Billion 4 port ADSL modem on wednesday morning from www.shop365.co.za. It was delivered a few minutes ago to my home in Midrand just after 8:00am by Berco.

That's 2 days turn around time which I'm very happy with and feel it's a very reasonable time period for delivery!

PS: Hennie from Netcomtech is one of the honorable merchants I have met personally!
