Don't you just love it when you buy something and it gets cheaper a few months later?!

I doubt the reduction in price will be seen here in South Africa in the near future.

Never provision for value to a value-less customer base. Seriously, there just aren't enough buyers in SA compared to the States, UK and Canada to transfer any sort of extra value. These are all extremely luxury products, which a *tiny* portion of the populace consume in SA.

Core group probably turn a profit, but its just a tiny little distributor in South Africa, nothing more.

i would buy this in blink if it cost $1500*R8.00 here = R12k. but alas.. its probably gonna be more like R18k.
 
Mac rumors has said for ages that they will probably ditch the fat pro and just drop the retina prices to the levels of the current pro. This seems like a small stopgap measure until the fat pros are all sold. The new retina 13" certainly looks like a better option than the MBA now.
 
Price drop means that 1) the cost of components are less and passed on, 2) competition pressure or 3) new models arriving soon.

Apple doesn't compete on price (2), (1) and (3) is the more plausible.
