the irony...

your ignorance is on another level- you better be hassling those tax inspectors to come find me, how long have you been hassling them?

Irony? Like I said, I pay my taxes.

And hassling them? Never. It sounds like it's more a Joburg report thing than CT.

Ok, my apologies for thinking this every time you post how you did what you did to earn so much money.

Was it only 6 times? or more?
It's called giving advice, Sunshine. If you see that as boasting, you may as well ask for this thread to be renamed to "Retirement and Splinter in South Africa".

let me tell you what I have also said on this forum

I posted a screenshot of my mailbox a few years ago, communication directly from FNB on the authority of SARS in order for me to comply with whatever paperwork they wanted me to comply with.

So they are definitely watching me, I am aware they are watching me, they know where I live, you know where I live

and?

Then you have no worries. But FNB giving some paperwork means nothing.

But you sound worried.

Not sure why. You pay all your taxes, not so.

So, have you paid all applicable taxes (after sound avoidance advice). Yes or no?

this is none of your business, I am not on trial nor is this an interrogation

you have no argument, the only one pushing this narrative is you

the offense you take for what I say is quite evident, I will take "tired of your smugness" as an admission to that

Look, dude, stop blowing smoke up my ass. Your particular circumstances, and advice, are not applicable to anyone here on this forum.

But quote the posts if I am wrong.
Yeah, the ~560 private threads I've been approached in, asking about everything from career, study, finance, emigration, tax, work, coding, academic questions, to friggin furniture, etc., totally screams that my advice is inapplicable.

You would be lucky to get 5% after fees in the climate. A lot of pension funds are barely getting 2 percent after fees.

And bread is nice with butter on. Focus.

We are talking here about where to start investing besides and RA. Stay on track.
After that little squabble, back to the topic at hand. Apart from RA I've gone with a combination of MSCI world, MSCI China and Syg4IR in easy equities TFSA.

And your advice and input is as useful as a wet slice of bread.

Tax free savings account. Sygnia and Easy Equities both have TFSAs without monthly management fees (there may also be others).

Max R3k a month, most people would advise you to buy only ETFs with international equity (your TFSA is a good place to hedge against rand weakening). Unlike an RA, you will be allowed to withdraw money without limitation from your TFSA, so you must have the discipline to never withdraw.

I obviously don't agree with mocking people who work, but it's hardly that offensive - I've always seen the term as a rhetorical device to drive home that for quite a few people, their situation is a matter of choice, or at least one that they could conceivably plan/strategize their way out of if they became more aware of their situation. Of course it's not always a choice, in which case I would see it more as sharp commentary than ridicule.
I find it offensive in the linguistic sense that it seems like an attempt to downplay the actual "slave" and is offensive in that context. It is something like - Oh - Government & majority is committing genocide on our community. At times, it seems a systematic attempt to dilute the impact of the words. But, that is language. How it is used will decide its future. We hardly use word gay in the context it was used not too long ago.

p.s. If you call me wage slave on my face or otherwise, I wouldn't personally find it offensive. I take it that you mean that I survive because of wages I receive which is a fact.

Actually, if they started whipping me and starving me at work, my morale would improve.

Fair enough. Personally, I'm not that offended when such terms are qualified with a prefix to disassociate it from the stand alone concept, but still wouldn't use them myself.

Thank you. Finally a proper response. I have also gone through some other threads last night and some advice I have been given in the past, but still very confusing. So maybe 3K a month in TFSA and R7000 a month in RA? Then see how life goes and look at some offshore investments.

Umm - you were the one who didn't understand the difference back in the past

Having said that, I am tired of your smugness for not paying taxes.
So, even these days, there are many asian/other shops that accept cash only payment. At times, some shops conveniently don't have a working POS machine. Also, there are many informal traders in so called upmarket places like Irene village market that accept cash. Also, there are some landlords that accept cash as rent payment and pass on the discount to the renters.

There are some who built their wealth by such tactics. But, as I mentioned, how would you know sitting on mybb?
