I'm sorry, but now you and I are going to have a robust chat - and will have nothing to do with odd science/math that most of us cannot grasp :)

It is of course offensive. Calling people who work, "wage-slaves", is not, in your opinion?
Nope. I spent many years as a wage-slave myself, as did my wife. We had to work or we would have lost our house. It sucked, but it is what it is.
Just because you make more than most while working, how does it make you oblivious to such? Because you want to tell us all how you could be retired now?
The only thing relevant about my financial situation now is that I realized I needed to make a change or give up a fair amount of choice in my life. I was successful in doing that.

PS - most of your posts that I have seen are about how much you earn, and how you did it. Ok, you rich. Now, get back on topic.
Yeah, what a ponce, always sharing how I became wealthy and giving advice from hard earned experience. It must be all about self-aggrandizement… so, speaking of “Retirement and Self-sabotage in South Africa”…

So what is your point then?

Don't most people have to do this?

Ok, but your changes, as far as I have seen here, were all about making more money?

Oh please. Of course it wasn't self-aggrandizement. It was you just boasting about your real achievements.

People need their heads looked at if they sink all their money into RAs or pension products. 70% of your RA investments are stuck in RSA for good and it just takes one cycle of hyper-inflation or the stroke of a pen to wipe out that wealth within a few seconds to a couple of years.
Just ask Zimbabwean pensioners what happened to their wealth.

The tax benefits of contributing to an RA are totally irrelevant if the entire investment is stolen or rendered worthless before retirement age.
I don't have an RA or Pension. I am 30 years old.

Where is the best place for me to save / investing for my "retirement", knowing the money will be safe and available

You are looking for financial advice.

But, as a 30 year old, what exactly do you do?

I'm not always sure. So now give me the financial advice. Also some marriage advice if you can.

Umm, no. I am not a financial advisor. No-one is allowed to really, unless they are a registered financial advisor.

As for the marriage advice - to the other party involved - RUN. Run as fast as you can, as far as you can, and never look back. :)

Then be quiet. You are not helpful. Either give me some sort of financial advice or mind your own poverty.

As for the marriage advice, very good advice, but unfortunately she can't run.

I did a quick search and it seems I used the term wage slave thrice, two instances the posts are directed at you comments and the third one is a more general comment where nobody seemed to take offense.

The only person taking offense it seems from the term is you.

There is a difference between a discussion/debate, and giving official financial advice.

As for being helpful, it's generally considered stupid to have not started investing for retirement by age 30.

ROFL! You used the term (multiple times, as per your own search), and have had a general condescending attitude towards those who work. Not sure what you are trying to disprove.

Give me unofficial advice and call it a discussion.

Could have, would have, should have.

I said it in the comment, but I will repeat it again since you have trouble reading.

Unofficial advice? Unless you are independently wealthy, you are likely going to regret not saving for retirement.

Maybe you are going to move back in with your parents; maybe you already living with them. Who knows.

That's nice. Now to get back to the question in saving for retirement besides an RA. Concentrate.

I have no trouble reading; it seems you have a problem with me reading it. I never claimed many took offence with it - just said that you said it. It's not that difficult to understand.
