Retouch an old photo - results?

Decided to try retouch an old photo.

This is original scan (40+ years old) and the retouch. I'm still battling with the skin colour and a few others colours to make it more natural, but I think it's a fair amount nicer than the initial

Anyone retouch photos?
Any software recommendations?

For this kind of work there are two names you should look for: Katrin Eismann and Dan Margulis.

If you were looking to do a colour conversion, there's too much black in your conversion. If I remember correctly, in CYMK, the K should be less than 4 in the skin tones for a light skinned person.
