Reunited: 43 years to find sister - in the next street

A man hadn’t seen his long-lost sister for 43 years… or so he thought.

Ken Whitty had lost touch with Yvonne but, incredibly, they were only living 300 yards apart in neighbouring streets.

Ken, 64, said: “I’ve walked past her house lots of times and I’ve even seen her in the garden.

“I have walked past her in the street and never realised it was my sister.”

“I thought we would eventually get back in touch, but time went by and it never happened.”

So at Christmas Ken decided to put an ad in a local newspaper.

He explained: “I thought, ‘It’s Christmas, I’m 65 next year and I’ve got to do something.’ I just had to do it this year.

“I didn’t even know if Yvonne was still alive.”

She certainly was and when Ken’s letter appeared in the paper he received a phone call soon after and a familiar voice said: “Hello,

this is Yvonne.”

Ken laughed: “It happened just like that. I couldn’t believe it.”

The pair then discovered they had been living just yards from each other in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

Ok? So were they seperated at birth that he didn't even recognize her?

I don't believe him that he apparently walked past her house. He probably stayed in-doors 98% of the time and went outside only for essentials like food and beer.
