Rhema church founder Ray McCauley dies at 75

Lots of donations etc, perhaps licences to use the Rhema name or something like that. Licencing of materials too I'm sure.

I think he was based in KZN and we know how many sinners there are there.

Can confirm. According to the local Pastor I am beyond redemption and only large tithes and offerings can save me.

RIP

He made #5 on the rich list.
Not bad.

R580million
from where ??

was talking to a friend the other day, he mentioned something about the"church" his mother goes to. a church where the pastor appeared flush with funds in comparison to his congregation.
i asked what church was it that she went to: anglican, catholic, baptist etc etc - or one of those happy clappy dancing and singing places, known as evangelical.
evangelical it was.

with that i grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled something on it while telling him i have a question for him that i'm certain i already know the answer to.
i gave him a piece of paper and the pen to write down the answer.

the question:
what car does this pastor drive ?
he scribbles down the answer.

i ask him to hand me his answer, i hand him mine.
my answer: mercedes benz - under 3yrs old
his answer: brand new mercedes.

i'm constantly amazed at these evangelicals.
i've always regarded certain occupations as a "calling", a dedication to serve - and there are quite a few of them.
but religion has to be at the pinnacle of occupations satisfying one's desire to serve your community, spread the gospel and attend to the spiritual welfare of your flock.
somehow the evangelicals are always rolling big - majority of the congregation arrive in very average cars, some by bus and other even by mini-bus taxi. but by the divine intervention of the lord, the pastors are rolling with shiny new, very expensive cars.

there is no need or requirement for a church leader to drive some wreck held together with duct tape and presstik tho.
2 churches close to me are catholic and the other i think may be anglican.
the catholic priest (or whatever his title may be) drives a toyota cressida - despite being rather old, the car very clearly has been very well looked after and impeccably maintained - it still looks new.
the anglican has a 4dr vw polo - probably 4 or 5 yrs old.
the rabbi at the local shepardi synagogue drives a fairly new korean suv - after his old dodge suv kept on breaking down.

all of this brings me back to mccauly and his R600m.
i personally find this abominable and disgraceful in the extreme, nobody needs R600m - especially a fukking church leader.
of that extreme wealth he could have retained R100m to live a life of unparalleled comfort, and the other R500m for altruistic purposes - but no !

I wonder if his will stipulates a large % of his fortune gets donated back to the church, doubtful!

Stopped going to their church after every service was about money. The more money you give the more ample your blessings. No Money - No blessings and you are going to hell.
