RHODESIAN.NET – is an educational and informational resource for the Republic of Rhodesia. Our aim is to put across a Rhodesian point of view on the achievements and history of Rhodesia. We also publish articles which are concerned with the current situation in Zimbabwe. In addition, we publish general articles about developments and events in Africa, and other articles of a general nature. We are not a commercial venture or pressure group, nor are we affiliated to any political grouping or party.

Tibby dude aka Angry black person that thinks everything should be handed to him, just cos he was " disadvantaged" Get over it... wIth out the white man africa would still be in the stone age.

nah, tibby.dude is just a deluded "fair weather friend" with an enormous chip firmly entrenched on his shoulders about his cultural/racial identity.

He can't see beyond it, which is really kinda sad... then again, there's a lot of those on this forum ;)

Just look at this forum and some of the clueless inane drivel from some people esp you ... the fear and the anger and yeaning of the good old days is quite evident.

You are the ones with the crisis and not the rest of us who are rather content with our lot in this country :).

Assuming this to be true, would it not perhaps have been better? Lions and Elephant would be roaming the spaces where JHB is today. No built up spaces and mainly open wilderness. Living in our urban jungle today I think this country might well be better off had we not come and developed it.

Think of how cool it would be if our suburbs looked like game lodges rather than what they look like today...

Yes, it is true that there wasn't much going on in Africa until the white man came along, I am just not sure how essential it was for us to do just that...

But we are here and everybody wants to get ahead in this twisted little world we created. And by "we" in the last sentence I mean all of us, black, white, pink and blue!

Guys, please avoid the racial slurs. Discussing race is okay when you have hard cold facts to discuss. Opinion is just opinion. Racism starts about there where the pain does. Rather beat eachother up with facts. The wounds heal quicker.

In all seriousness, Rhodesia had one of the best education levels in Africa, and the quality of life of all residents was much higher than in Zimbabwe days. This is fact.

Remember too, that the only reason that Zimbabwe didn't immediately end up in a civil war after independence was as a result of the Rhodesian African Rifles, who effectively ended the war before it started (Source: P Stiff; Cry Zimbabwe).

Rhodesia did achive a great deal, whether or not one needs to feel "sorry" for the people who want to remember Rhodesia's achievements is another debate.

Much like the outskirts of Gabarone are today. I stayed with relatives there, who lived beside a river. There were monkeys in the trees, and a crocodile had even been seen in the river - and this is just outside the capital city. :D

You know what I don't get is this. Some ethnic groups are so keen to blame everything bad on the past, but are willing to take full credit for anything they deem good. I also don't get the white people in this country: they want to be considered African (especially those born here, and to be absolutely honest, in whichever country you're born, you are an immediate uncontested citizen of that country) but revert to statements like this:

(Just using your post an example due to availability antowan, nothing sinister intended). Africa is going through one of the worst violent spells in World History at the moment, and it has nothing to do with the past. It is time for everyone to unite and working towards a better Africa. This can and must only start at home. Dammit guys, the racism is not one sided. EVERYONE IS EQUALLY TO BLAME, EVEN THOSE THAT SAY NOTHING.

We live in a primitive landscape trying to fit into a modern era. Something's gotta give.
