Can I still go to the local spar / pnp and get a VC prepaid card? Do I need rica docs? Or do I need to visit VC these days?

You should still be able to purchase from them...not sure if they have access to RICA the sim so you can dial 100 and activate. 2 Options I guess...buy the sim from them and pop into your closest Vodashop/4U Store/Chatz Cellular store and RICA it there....or just go there from the start and do everything there 1 time :)

Your ID and proof af address. Utility bill, bank statements, telkom bill, tv licence....but remember, it must reflect your physical address....not your postal.

If you buy a prepaid sim at PnP etc, you need to go into a Vodashop with Id and proof of address for them to put it on the system and then you can activate it. We phoned the helpdesk as my son has just had to do it.

Depends though on what constitutes proof of address... As a private renter, I don't recieve a utility bill (and hence wouldn't have my name on it :p) so unless I have to bother my landlord again and get them to write a letter and/or go in with me again (like the last time when I wanted to open a new bank account and had to get FICA approved AGAIN:mad:), I'm going to have to try and use my bank statements. Failing that, looks like I'm going to have to buy a TV and get a TV licence... oh wait - don't I need to take a utility bill for that too?

Your lease agreement should suffice as proof of residence. I used mine for FICA.

Will pre-paid SIMs still expire due to non once RICA verified?

Do you mean Vodacom recycling the number due to inactivity? I would think yes. That business rule should still apply even if the number is RICA registered.

Yes. Recycling due to inactivity.

Will there be a way to simply add more SIMs to your "profile" once you have verified for RICA or do you have to do the whole process for each and every SIM?

You will have to register each prepaid sim that you purchase.

Bit of a pain. I would have expected your ID book too be good enough to add additional SIMs once you had registered.

Well, if you think about it...prepaid is not like a contract where all your contract lines is linked to one account. But even with contracts....should you take out a new add on line then I you will have to provide the same docs again....and remember...proof of address may not be older than 3 months.

Best option - just buy 20 of them, and get them all approved at once. Shouldn't cost more than 10 or so bucks...:p
