Best option - just buy 20 of them, and get them all approved at once. Shouldn't cost more than 10 or so bucks...:p

RICA will assume more than 2 is for business and require a company letter to activate

Not as far as I know Syndyre. Prepaid is prepaid. Only time that you will need a company letter for prepaid RICA is if it actually does belong to a company.

RICA Hell

Took some time off today, had some banking chores, and needed to rica various sim cards I have.
First two at CellC, gave them the numbers, utility bill and ID, DONE :)

Next four at the Voda Shop, sorry sir, we need to see the numbers on the back of the sim.
Yes, but that sim is in a tracker 100Km away, sorry sir, need to see the sim.
Ok, walked down to a general cellphone shop, SAME f@!^g story !

Nice thing is, other than one contract 3G sim, all the others are PAYG, so when the money runs out, and I have to drive out there anyway, to get the sim, I'm driving out with 3 new CellC sims.

The Vodacom website mentions NOTHING about the numbers on the back of the sim :-(

Just HAD to get that off my chest.

Hello Copy'nPaste. Did you explain to the store that it is telemetry sims and you do not have it with you? Our RICA system does request us to enter the last 4 digits of the sim. The reason for this is likely for us to authenticate and make sure that you actually have possesion of the sim card and not merely registering random numbers that might not actually belong to you.

I registered EIGHT Vodacom SIM's a few weeks ago without any problems! I did have the SIM numbers written down. I don't know what possessed me to do this - I think it was so I could ID them myself... It was fortunate that I did.

I have sent you a PM Copy'nPaste. I hope you find it to be a solution.

Please remember that RICA is required by law by government. How they choose to use the info provided by the Service Providers is up to them. I guess only time will tell as to whether RICA is succesfull in preventing crimes or solving them.

Kind Regards:

You can also RICA at Edgars for Cell C, MTN and Vodacom. They don't ask to see the sim cards.
