Spare a thought for Telkom CEO Sizwe Nxasana. He has just had his salary package cut by 37%, from R11,14-million to R6,9-million.

Telkom has cut executive salaries and bonuses in the past two years from R59-million to R33-million. The Telkom board, no doubt, has taken note of the new mood sweeping the country as workers look not so much at CPIX (consumer inflation minus mortgages) when tabling their wage demands, but the high-flying, stratospheric salary packages of corporate executives.

Nhleko’s total earnings last year topped R23-million, more than three times that of Nxasana.
Ag shame

edit: Who do these guys think they are,,, GODS or something?

Ja no look, and after tax he probably only squeezes out about R4.1m... for an entire year! Poor guy. That's only R11300 per day! He must be living in abject poverty.

Ah but you people don't know how much Sizwe Nxasana helps his comrades. I beleve he has a stop order on his salary for R10 per month payable to the ANC supporter club. Oh and I forgot the 50 cents xmas bonus he pays his gardener.

Sizwe earns in a day what most hard working IT professionals will get in a month.

How can we justify asking for foreign aid and debt relief from other countries when there is clearly a huge amount of wealth being generated by our economy? Look at the profits of companies like Telkom/Vodacom and other major SA companies, and how much the top execs get paid, there's truckloads of money here in SA - it's just being pilfered by a tiny elite. We don't need aid, we just need more equitable distribution of the wealth we have.

Viva BEE... unimaginable wealth to the (recycled) minorities.

And perhaps you should look at the salaries of the non black CEO's of most big companies on the JSE before making a remark like that.

Yeah. There was an article on the front page of the Argus (I think) the other day, with regards to the Pick 'n Pay strike etc. The salaries they showed there weren't very "viva BEE"..

Hire me, Telkom. I'll work for R8 000 a month and transform your pathetic government-protected monopoly.

I thought BEE wasn't about being black?
