Richard’s Bay: Demonic matric works shock parents
A concerned parent who came across the exhibition was left mortified. He filmed what was on display, while commenting on some of the anti-religious sentiment expressed by the pupils. A number of drawings depict Jesus as a clown – particularly Ronald McDonald – but that’s the pre-watershed version of it all.
Some of the works go to dark, twisted places. In one frame, the torso of Jesus is cut open, exposing his inner organs. Sketches of the Grim Reaper, piles of skulls and images of the devil all complete the nightmare-inducing pieces.

I'd be far more concerned about what is going in the student's lives that they are painting such stuff, than the art itself. Lets TRY to focus on what is important! And hard questions need to be asked about what exactly that art teacher has been doing in the art classes. There is a consistency in those works that suggest the teacher was guiding the art in a particular direction.

So I came across this today, what's strange is that the school is Christian centric so it doesn't make sense that this would be allowed by the teachers or encouraged, but what's your opinions on it?

Wouldn't mind seeing some of that "art" properly, it looks interesting.

EDIT: Ronald McDonald everywhere?

Regardless of legality surely it's disrespectful to do something like this in a Christian school.... just because something is legal doesn't mean it's ethical.

Why don't just get one of your esteemed scholars to declare a fatwa against the snotnose

More than a passing resemblance to Ronald McDonald

Hahahahaha - what toss!

Look at renaissance artwork and compare. FFS, a clown? That's Ronald Mc Donald. ****** probably enjoys crap burgers. If anything, these effigies are religious. Summonsing satan - oh come on! Fücking drama llama.

Sorry, I can't take portrait filmed videos seriously let alone share them... what will my mates think :giggle:

Edit: True story, years back I showed a girlfriend some of my artwork from my youth... she had this reaction... I decided she should be single

um kids in particular paint according to what is going on in their life. There are very specific indicators in kids art of problems in their life. At 17/18 years that might be slightly less relevant, but I'd still be asking some hard questions about what is happening at home with regard violence, and an overly religious father figure perhaps ... and what the anger issues are with that kid.

The art shows nothing about violence or anger... or 'satan' for that matter

I wouldn't be surprised if he has been listening to heavy metal and reading the kinds of books that detail these grim features - like that old, thick one.
