Religion doesn't belong in a school.

I am refering to the art work that is taking Christian figures and using it to illustrate something. I know the artist has issues with religion and is an atheist, and choosing Christianity as his focus. It's just an observation, in general, some Atheists are obsessed with Christianity, not all Atheists, but most one come across. When you mention Jesus or a topic of Jesus, their face suddenly goes into shock and a lot of hatred comes out.
Cultural context obviously. Those who are anti-religion are not singling out Christianity.

Grantleigh is not a Christian school it's a very expensive private school. The Richards Bay Christian School is in town. <-- Well seems I'm not 100% informed. They follow a Christian Ethos. So Christian school but not really. Very weird.
In my experience follow a Christian ethos is really just doublespeak for promoting that particular religion. Otherwise the term is meaningless. The social aspects/principles of the religion are fairly common and require no reference to any religion.

Just responded on youtube:

"What a huge over reaction, I suggest you have a look at the "Christian Art" especially from the Victorian Era, or atleast some of Gustave Dore work (much later), its far worse ;)

Next up your upset about the Clown, its not just any clown its a mascot of a popular fast food chain and hence the works are a critique on how capitalist the world has gotten that it idolizes brands to the point that they become false idols, so this isnt satanic at all, but hey thats just my interpretation, art is in the eye of the beholder at the end of the day.

His art on a technical point is fantastic if you judge it on his skill, even if it doesn't align to your religious views."

It would be interesting to see what would happen if a student did it with Muhammad and the Quaran. They should do an experiment in the school, which also has a fair amount of Muslims.

(they should not really do it, I don't think it is necessary to provoke others just because you have daddy issues)
Why would he want to draw Muhammad? His aim was not to attack religion but to attack and commercialisation of the faith.

Those kids have skill. Especially the Ronald McDonald one. But the theme and direction shows a serious lack of judgement from the art teacher that verges on mind-bogglingly stupid.

Dunno why atheists can't leave Christians (and seems only Christians, they don't attack Muslims or anyone else with the same fervour) to their self determination. I speak in general of this forum, not this thread specifically which seems to be centred around some attention seeking little twat and has nothing to do with beliefs.

I don't want to be blown up or have a fatwa against me.

UPDATE: Grantleigh responds to artwork video

The learner has issued his rationale behind each piece of art in question

Wouldn't mind seeing some of that "art" properly, it looks interesting.

EDIT: Ronald McDonald everywhere?
So its probably a theme - I remember from art class we would explore an idea and then make art works using those ideas.

From the looks of it they are looking at the modern corporation as a god. McDonalds takes the place of the church and Ronald takes the place of Jesus.

I liked the deamons covered in the pages of the bible, as you take away the words the evil is revealed, the bits of paper become pills that you are supposed to just "swallow".

Some fascinating ideas here. Perhaps too challenging for school children but we should never underestimate them.
