What a huge #$*%@-up. I met with up with two reps from Cell-C Fibre about two weeks ago and was assured that my area (Stellenridge) would be running live by the 1st of August. I went ahead and gave notice to cancel my ADSL by that date, but I've just been informed that they're only "going live on September 1st".

I went ahead and gave notice to cancel my ADSL by that date, but I've just been informed that they're only "going live on Septemeber 1st".

Which area are you in? Stellenridge/Stellenberg is divided up into 4 areas.
Area 1 and 2 is already live.
Area 3 in Stellenridge should go live in this week.
Area 4 will only give live end of August beginning September.

I am in area 3, so expecting a phone call this week to book an install date.

Must admit, I am also patiently waiting. They didnt even let any information out on facebook when I asked today about area 3.
So tomorrow will have to see. Sadly 2nd week of August Im out of the country, so really wanted the install to happen this week.

Yeah also been waiting for the announcement today for area 3. When i messaged them this morning they said: "Our teams are doing everything they can to have fiber live today."

Just hope it actually goes live by tomorrow.

Thank you for your message. Your area is scheduled to go live in the next few days. Initially it was scheduled for end of July but unfortunately these dates cannot be guaranteed as they are indicative and subject to change. Our teams are pushing to have fiber go live as soon as possible so should hopefully be ready within this week. Once fiber is live, our scheduling department will make contact to arrange a date of in home installation to take place.

So it was supposed to be end of July. Now CellC are saying at least two weeks, or September 1st to be safe. Nobody seems to know what's going on. Now I've got to go through the hassle of uncancelling my adsl.

Well, I'll be really pissed if I hear about anyone in Stellenridge who has fibre before me.

Vumatel:

I apologize for the miscommunication but installation can only take place once fiber is live so we would not have been able to secure a date. We can only secure dates for installation to take place once the fiber is live. You will be notified via email as soon as fiber is ready and from there the installations will be arranged by our scheduling department.

I might I know I was one of the very first to pre-book by signup, as soon as that option opened up on the website.

I cancelled my telkom line for mid august incase of the installation being delayed but now could be sitting without internet mid month.

Which is the info I had from CellC, so what went wrong? And why did I only hear about it yesterday?

Okay, so I was messaging Vumatel on FB. They called me just now & my install is scheduled for Friday morning.

Congrats all. Watching with keen interest as I'm vacating the big smoke to come drink more wine - hopefully this year still. I'm keen to move to an area that is already earmarked for fibre...

I suspected it was that. When they installed my fibre it synced fine but they couldn't activate it. I then phoned support and they told me that there is an issue in the area that they are attending to and to expect to get it activated on monday or tuesday.

Oh, mine doesnt even sync. Just flashing blue light nothing else.
