So - got contacted via mail today by what appears to be a legitimate company talking about a fender bender someone had driving my car back in Jan 2018. Until today, as far as I knew, it had been settled by insurance and that was pretty much it.
Today, I get an email saying the usual "SETTLE THIS NOW OR COURT" with no amounts, descriptions or explanation. I mailed back asking for a statement and this is the reply:
Which... I have several questions
1) What agreement? Surely there needs to be some proof of this agreement? Also... what agreement?
2) There's no print screen
3) Surely... surely, if you are wanting me to potentially pay you nearly R9k, you need to provide a statement? I wouldn't expect anyone to pay me on the strength of "You must give me money. Here's a (not) screenshot"
Or am I being silly here?
Also... I think I'm going to start inserting "Without Prejudice" into every email I send from now on
