Roaches???

I must be lucky, I don't have any roaches, but I've got a bunch of crickets, ants everywhere and these ugly monster bugs I think it is anteaters or something outside in my lawn that makes a very high pitched and continious noise. I live in a townhouse complex with walls that act as a speakerbox, which means these bugs make such a noise I can bearly get any shut-eye. A friend of mine suggested to me to pour soap water on the lawn and wait for these monsters to crawl out. I've been doing it and it works. I would like to know from you clever people, what is this bug called? It is brown with wings, about 5 to 6cm long looks like a huge ant but only the shape, it's got a soft body. It's got huge mandibles and scary looking front legs.

If you're very lucky you have an infestation of Parktown Prawns. The good news is that they help dispose of the dog turds

I have gone to the kitchen between 1am and 3am for the last few days and no roaches yet. I have spring cleaned and haven't come across any others. So i guess they where just wondering into the house from outside.

Thanx for all your helpful replies, i will stock up on the bay leaves and fogger doom just in case.

Try Blattanex gel. It's (more or less) the same gel that RENTOKIL uses in residential premises.
