Road spiking in Gauteng: ‘Do not remain seated in your car, they will rob you’

It blows my mind, no pun intended, how middle-class South Africans will spend thousands on private security, car trackers, panic buttons, etc, but refuse to make the effort to get a firearm.

You cannot outsource your safety to another; it is unaffordable.

Our criminals are determined and brazen because the know the odds of facing deadly defence is nil.
Skewed priorities, The public thinks it’s someone else’s responsibility to protect them, but ultimately everyone is responsible for their own lives.

They never learn though.

Most of this is happening around Pretoria. They should increase the police presence so that the criminals move their activity to JHB.
Exactly why I never go to Pretoria anymore. It is a dump. Pretoria east is a shopping mall for Car thieves and hijackers and home invaders.

Joburg is way way safer than Pretoria, centurion and midrand,

I lay the blame at foreign-funded NGOs, like Gun Free South Africa, who conditioned the public into believing that being a compliant victim is honourable.

Articles like the one in this thread does the same to push this conditioning.

There's no merit in taking the fight to the criminals. What will help is if these vagrants know that the odds of facing deadly force is higher than it currently is.

There was a surge in news articles a while back that highlighted incidents where criminals met with a legally armed citizen and ended up dead or fleeing with injury.
What happened to those?

I refuse to own a gun or have one in my house.

Most of the modern generation suburbanites have never handled a firearm. They just know that they are scary things.

You don't have to.

If just 3/10 South Africans legally carry a firearm, this country will be a completely different place, crime wise.

Yet, they drive, as if a car/bike isn't a deadly machine as well. And they do so amongst thousands of others

I've said this before.
One can drive on flat tires and buckled rims. Do not stop. Keep going.
Replacing the wheels is far cheaper than your life.
Those who are not armed have never been hijacked, home invasion, robbed, mugged or any other happy events in their lives.
Catch a wake up.
Criminals love you to bend over and take it properly.

I love the way a valid solution for South Africans is "don't go out at night."

Lol we love to just roll-over when attacked.
