I signed up with Iburst about 4 months ago. I purchased a modem from a post I saw on the forum somewhere. I received the modem and then attempted to have it setup on the iburst network. I was then told that I would have to wait until the end of the month, 10 days away so that they can connect me. Before signing up, I liased with Nao at WBS and asked him how I should sign up since I already have a modem and that there is no option on the website that allows you to chose that I already have a modem.

Nao advised to chose the option for another desktop modem and that he personally will instruct accounts that no modem will be delivered to me and thus I will not be charged for it.

I then stressed to him that I was afraid of being charged for another modem and he said " Don't worry, just sign up on the website and I'll sort it out"

I then proceeded to sign-up. 2 days later a modem was delivered to my house. I immediately called WBS and spoke once again with Nao who advised me that a courier will be sent to pick up the modem.

They never ever came. 2 weeks ago, I was charged R2800 from WBS for the modem. I again called Nao and he acknowledged that they were at fault and that a courier would be sent to pickup and that I would be refunded the R2800 for something which I did not order.

I spoke with Tatu, apparently he is the team leader. He assured me that he has logged the call and will resolve this issue.

3 days went by and no courier arrived. I called Nao again and he promised that the modem would be picked up on thurs.Thursday went by and no courier. I called and spoke with charlton who advised me that the courier was booked for friday, I called the courier on Friday and he said to me that he had no intention to come and pick up the modem.

Today is 5th December, I called in charlton but had no luck speaking with him.

To top it all off, I have the whole original conversation recorded so I have all the proof. I'm hoping that a rep from WBS see's this post and resolve's this issue since I think I have a really strong case.

Any ideas guys and Gals.

Update

Just spoke with Tshepo and he confirmed........again that a courier would collect during business hours 2morrow and that he will update me.

I just put the phone down with WBS and there was a knock at the door. Jens, the other courier and installer was at the door. I asked him what his position was and he said he is the project manager for WBS cape town. He took the modem which I made him sign for so that covers my a.....

I called Tshepo back and updated him. He says that logistics have left for the day so he will only be able to do the refunding 2morrow.

I'll keep you guys posted and thanks for the help.

It worries me that the service levels in SA companies are going down the drain and I don't know how our economy can actually grow if this is happening all over? I can understand it if it's government departments, but a private company? They NEED to make good profits, otherwise they're going down. And if you want to make good profits, you NEED happy customers.

Classic example at the moment is the Centurion municipality that decided to cut off 'unpaid' bills from customers - paid customers have been without electricity for 2 and more days!! Now imagine you went and purchased meat products - that will all be rotten now.

I don't know where you live, but I would pay your nearest WBS offices a visit and create a HUGE scene - they don't like that very much and will be forced to do something about it.

Not sure they have offices in Cape Town. They wanted me to send them a letter WRT the whole incident. I have done this and now just await the refund. I would like to take it further but not sure how.

Take them to small claims court. You never approved the debit of R2800 in the first place. So, have them refund that, the interest you lost, the banking charges, the stress to your life because you wouldn't be able to afford food, the time wasted sorting their mess out etc. Maybe they'll learn when the court grants you R10k ;)

I have never signed up via the website but I suspect when you enter your banking details there you give them permission to debit the R2800.

I will agree however that Nao (I suspect it should be Neo btw) advised shadley in the worst way possible. What happened to him should have never happened. I would also put in an interest claim against WBS for use of your funds (and any overdraft interest you might have incurred as well as bank charge fees). The amount might be small however the principle still stands.
