How to avoid disappearing airtime

For over a decade, South Africans were victims of a criminal enterprise that was allowed to steal billions from unsuspecting mobile subscribers without fear of consequences.

None of the perpetrators faced fraud charges. Not a single arrest was made.

Ok, I got lured in to read this article, and it's recycled rubbish.

Basically tells you how to unsubscribe from WASP services. Right, that's exactly what we need, because being automatically signed up after cancelation isn't a thing  o_O

I just use ChatGPT to summarise shít now into 2 sentences. Can't be bothered.

We had to take it one step further and block all USSD services on all our business accounts.
That is how they subscribe you.
It's a PITA, but once you block all USSD services the spam goes away.
Because as others have pointed out above, they will just keep re-subscribing you. Without your consent and without any action on or involvement on your part.
Somehow they are able to do it unilaterally on their side. Vodacom and the other service providers really need to take a look at that.
But once we blocked USSD on the number it stopped dead.

Might be rehashed stuff, but it's a good reminder to go follow these steps anyways.
