Hi everyone,

I have read about the above but Im still not sure what it all means...

Maybe I should explain what I am looking for, someone please point me in the right direction.

First and formost I am looking for a device that can stream Youtube, Netflix etc...

Secondly I am looking for a way to stream channels like ESPN etc.

I absolutely love hunting and fishing shows, and I want to be able to stream outdoorsy tipe shows.

Anyone know of a solution. Sky, ESPN???

I currently have a 4 Mbps line, is that enough?

Thanks!

Hennie.

Hi Hennie. In my personal capacity , owning a Roku, Apple TV , chromecast , android boxes , and fire stick . I would personally recommend the Roku . All devices have their own pros and cons but when it comes to stability and ease of use and channels roku is my device of choice. Most of the subscription streaming services available in South Africa are available on the Roku except Showmax. This is because they use widevine drm where Roku support Play ready drm and Showmax have not or don't feel it is in their interest to develop a Roku app. Netflix , Amazon , google play and YouTube are available on the Roku. Regarding sports and Sky News you will need an unblocking service and then you can subscribe to Sling TV for a staring price of $20 per month which will give you access to ESPN and other US channels. Android TV is another option but legality , stream quality and security is questionable if using third party Kodi apps .

I agree with steco mostly.

If op has access to American television stations then I would recommend the apple tv 4th gen as I have had a better streaming quality on it and it's easier to add apps / do the monthly reactive in the apps.

Cost wise roku is far better for value.

I havea 4mbps line and Kodi is working fine.
First add addons to Kodi and connect PC to the TV before you decide if you want a dedicated device for your setup.

I have a mini PC connected to my TV.

so I have a full browser to stream netflix, Hulu, heck even DSTV Now if I have a password.

I mostly use Kodi because it has all of my needs.

I have a Roku and Android box. The Android box might cater for your ESPN and Sky needs, via an app called Mobdro. Get all my Sport needs through there, mostly from Sky sport.
