Even with ocgt and pumped storage running they can't handle the evening peak.View attachment 236354
What I find strange is that Eskom nailed us with blackouts yesterday to supposedly build up reserves, yet here we are warned on the very next morning of blackouts again tonight?
So what was yesterday really about then?
And guess who has the 7-9:30pm slot tonight?Even with ocgt and pumped storage running they can't handle the evening peak.
8 till midnight, stage 2 only. And guess who has the 7-9:30pm slot tonight?![]()
Better not go to 2.

I should miss loadshedding this evening which is good because I want to watch the end of The Open when I get home.
Last night had the 18:00 - 20:30 slot. Power came back on at about 20:05 for about 5 minutes, then went off again until 21:05. Not sure what happened but I wasn't amused.
It was probably a substation failure or something of the sort. It's been happening all over lately because the system was not designed for this kind of abuse. Lately it seems I can't speak to anyone without hearing that the infrastructure in their area failed and left them without power for much longer than the loadshedding period.
About two months ago I was busy working when I heard what sounded like a car suddenly revving very hard, followed by a loud bang and all my electricity going off. Call the municipality - high voltage failure in my area.
This is going to keep happening and they'll have to spend a fortune on repairs. Guess who's going to have to shoulder that cost?
