Gloomy forecast from Eskom...

Looks like a definite stage 1 this evening.

Oh so we're doing weekly predictions now?

Hmmm... Def Stage 1 every evening, with the odd Stage 2 thrown in for good measure to keep us on our toes.

Sometimes I wish they would just move to a permanent Stage 1 so I could plan my life accordingly :erm:

I'm so paranoid about overloading the grid that I've removed the light bulb from the fridge ... I'm convinced all Saturdays stage 2 & 3 crap started when I took a Coke out :p

Announcement at 14:00 that Stage 1 is to be implemented at 17:00. Stage 2 announced at ~18:30 and Stage 3 shortly afterwards. Then reverted to Stage 2 within an hour. Suspended at 21:40.

Actually if Saturday's anything to go by they'll suspend before 21:00.

This is what happened on Saturday. What does this have to do with today?

Well, past behaviour dictates future behaviour, so it is related. I added in +1 hour because a Monday should be more of a problem than a Saturday, electricity-wise, unless ESKOM has somehow managed to get a lot of additional capacity since yesterday.

Fingers crossed for Stage 1 loadshedding, if we move to stage 2 loadshedding hits me, hopefully CoCT will step in with spare generation capacity.

Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding from 16:00 until 17:00 and stage 2 load shedding from 17:00 to about 22:00 on Monday.

"This is due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of our power station units," Eskom said.

Plan your load shedding: GridWatch

"Any unexpected changes on the vulnerable and constrained power system could lead to a change in the load shedding stage at short notice," it said.

The City of Cape Town managed to avert load shedding on Sunday "due to spare generation capacity at the Steenbras power station", in a new development of cities trying to find ways to adapt to the country's electricity challenges.

Eskom implemented stage 3 load shedding on Saturday as it attempted to build up generation power for the week ahead.
