Aaand the neighbours complained about the noise and smoke. Ffs. Can't blame them. Going to have to return the unit and get a quieter one.

Nah I would have done in the same in their position. I couldn't believe how loud the generator was - like starting a boat. If there aren't relatively quiet generators available we'll have to get one of those powerwall things.
This thing cost R18k. I was under the impression it wouldn't be as loud as an armageddon.I believe the inverter type gennies are quiet. But they are a lot more expensive.

Do you need that much power though? You should ask grantza which model he has, I think he said his is quiet. (iirc)
