What's with this "the power plant" phrase that keeps popping out of Eskom's rear end? It has been appearing in Eskom brainfarts for at least a week now.

I realise that we the tax payers and electricity consumers have been forking out huge amounts of money over the last 20 years to pay Eskom's managment and employees bonuses in exchange for them doing close to no work, but I didn't realise that there is only one operational power plant left.

Probably the same collective use as when Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, etc. speak of their network.

I know what you mean but a network is a collection of interconnected things (plural), whereas "the power plant" is decidedly singular.

Perhaps Eskom's team of ignoramuses meant "the electricity transmission network" or more commonly referred to as "the grid" instead of "the power plant".

:D

In financial terms we also refer to "Property, Plant and Equipment"... maybe their media department has a financial overlord? :p

Its all BS - yesterday was also "not yet" for black outs and we had no power from 20:00 - 22:00. A call to Eskom, didn't shed much light on the matter, in fact we were left in the dark as to the reason.

Slightly OT, but I use several Load Shedding apps on my Android phone, and one of the better ones is very aptly named.
It is called EskomSePush  .. and available in the Google Play store

It's a localised issue that you need to take up with your metro. It is not due to Eskom.

I'm an Eskom client and they keep switching off the area regardless of schedules - yesterday from 20:00 - 22:00 and now from 16:30

Have you queried it with them?

yeh, they say they don't know, they can't see anything, but it just came back on, so I dunno. maybe someone at Eskom too hasty and they keep turning off the area, and then back on, I dunno, every frikking day:(
