Well we know it's just to save on the diesel budget. Got nothing to do with building up reserves.

CAPE TOWN, July 23 (Reuters) - Unit 2 of South Africa's sole nuclear power plant will be shut down for three months from the end of August as part of routine refuelling and maintenance, power utility Eskom said on Thursday.
In February, unit 1 of the plant known as Koeberg was shut down for a similar period, resulting in the loss of half the output at the 1,800 megawatt nuclear power plant.

Cape Talk radio news.
Nothing on the internet. Also nothing on ESKOM or KOEBERG websites. We just came off a 3 month shutdown for routine maintenance. According to both sites there is no routine maintenance scheduled at Koeberg during winter months.
I seriously doubt this "rumour".
Fair enough, ties in with my comments. Although you find better info than me. End of August is not NOW though is it? It is after the winter. Dates are important when announcing these events.

Apologies, I heard it on the radio, don't know if they mentioned August.
September in Cape Town is 1 degree celsius warmer than August, so pretty much winter in Cape Town still.

Declining #Eskom peak elec supply: 2011: 36,2GW; 2012: 35,5GW; 2013: 35GW; 2014: 34,8GW; 2015: 32,7GW. Alarm bells should be ringing.
"There won't be any load shedding this winter."
