So twice now it's happened where the power comes back on around 20:05 (my schedule is from 18:00 - 20:30) but then goes off 5 minutes later, only to come back on another 10 minutes later. What is the reasoning behind this? Has someone switched the power back on too early and then switched it off again? I mean, is another 10 minutes of loadshedding really going to make such a difference?

The worst part about all this is that I unplug my pc and tv while it's off but then reconnect it all when the power comes back on. Was busy on my pc last night when it went off again. No issues fortunately (this time at least).

You based in Sunward? The same happened to us. Flip talk about an anti climax

I checked the schedule yesterday afternoon. No load shedding scheduled. Got home and the power was off. Checked the schedule again and there it is. My area being loadshed. There was no mention of load shed during the day and after the power goes of the schedule gets loaded.

psssst....

Most probably the switching sequence of your supplier is outdated. If too much load is switched on at the same time, you get an overload due to the inrush of current (cold pickup). As protection, the station's breakers will trip again. When the inrush has stabilised after the ~10 - 15 minutes, the breakers are auto / remotely re-closed and will stay on.

When the recent load shedding started again, we had the same situation one night, but instead of the power coming back 10 minutes later, it took 4 hours - protection must've failed to trip and something blew.

Yeah, I thought something like this might be the issue but the fact that it took so long to 'trip' again made me think that someone had realised that perhaps it wasn't time to put us back online.

The weird thing is that after the initial trip, the power came back online again but literally for two or three seconds. My lights flickered and then it went off AGAIN for another 5 or so minutes and then when it finally came back on, it was permanent. But yeah, there must be an issue on our grid with the transformer or substation or something (sorry, I'm no electrical engineer :) )

Anyone want to swap their 5pm slot with our 20h00 - 22h30 slot?

We always get shed in that slot. Can literally do nothing.
