I'm pushing the metro for an official response... none forthcoming as they are all at the half-marathon that they have sponsored with our rates' monies.

Really weird.... the News24 load shedding app tells me Summerstrand is suppose to go off from 09:00 to 11:30 (usually, load shedding is just 2 hours)... its 09:45 and I still have power.

Even last night, Summerstand was supposed to be load shed from 21:00 (I think), and that didn't happen (according to the load shedding app). Either the app is wrong, or the municipality is doing something.

Not really weird if you've been paying attention… :p

Municipality workers are striking.

We were load shed from 830 to 1030 which is not such an inconvenient time since it's Saturday. Hope we are done for the weekend though. Cold, rain and load shedding is a miserable combination!

Flip I'm getting shed during the rugby! Blood bastards!

Might just have to go out and by a UPS or something.

Any recomendations on something quick and dirty I can use to keep my TV and DSTV up and running for an hour?

No stage 2 load shedding in the City of Cape Town due to spare generation capacity!

Yay! :D

Seems like they woke up the guys at Steenbras, since the spare capacity was not used during the week...

It takes a while for the hydro-electric scheme to be replenished, never mind that its main function is to supply water - not electricity.

Steenbras is a pumped-storage scheme, with a closed water supply reservoir system, not hydro-electric.

Edit: Semantics, thread drift, whatever...

There's virtually an immediate broadcast on Channel 210, so suggest you simply start watching again from when your power went down during the live broadcast :

Actually the spare capacity was used during the week, except for the 6-8.30PM slot.

Indeed, though it seems it's getting harder to replenish the upper reservoir with Eskom's constant stage 2. I think it has a capacity of about 180MW for 15 hours fully "charged" while they only have about 6 hours per day to replenish.
