It took 13 weeks to get my ADSL installed in the Craighall area.
Privately, I was told that the reason was that Telkom has to actually wait for people with an ADSL line to move out of the suburb so that they can then assign a new account a port!
During my wait I asked to be upgraded to 1024 from the 512 that I ordered
2 Days after installation the conection went dead.
18 Days later and 43 calls (I counted) to Telkom, the issue is still not resolved.
On the 19th day I was told that actually its a problem with the quality of the cable and that my house (not the others in the suburb) can only support 384. Then the story changed to say that I was too far away from the Rosebank exchange.
Telkom when they sold me the 1024 story said it was supported in my area and that I would most likely get 4MB. It now seems that people in Sandton / Rosebank / Hyde Park can only get 384 - according to the Telkom techie... Sound rubbish to me!
In any event, is anyone having the same story spun to them?
Thanks
