I suspect this is maybe a network issue.

A suggestion would be to take your modem and router to a friend's house with good Cell C coverage and test there.

I know it's a hassle, but that would rule out one problem.

Took the router into another area and it did not help. Now the router does not even identify the modem at all; it says "Unknown Modem Click here to configure the modem manually". I am sending the unit in for testing; I am sure it is faulty.

So the latest in my saga is that by chance I had the unit powered off for a while. When I turned it on again it picked up the modem and worked 100%. But it soon looses it and when I reboot it cannot find it again.

To rule out issues with the modem and router combination try one of the following:
Put it on GPRS/EDGE only with MDMA and then back in the router or,
Try a Vodacom or MTN sim on 3G only.

Ok that rules that one out. Came in this morning after both devices have been off for hours. This looks to be intermittent; one out of a hundred though; to get this darn thing connected.

Lemme guess, you didn't change one thing.

Richard from DBG sent me another firmware version. It was working better however it was still not picking the modem up on occasions. However maybe at that point the network could have a part to play.

But eventually after installing all sorts of firmware versions, the one that is working for me is 3.12.8 Build 110125 Rel.43954n. If anyone needs it send me a PM.

I think Cell C is having serious network issues. Send me your email address and I will forward you my firmware.

I cannot connect today at all. So I assume it must be a Cell C thing. My router says it can not identify the modem :(

The instability I had is starting to creep up on me again. Last night my router said my modem is "unplugged" and "identifying" for a while :(

You see it's difficult to know whether it's a Cell C thing or a T-Link thing. My guess now is that it's Cell C related. My router is picking up my modem fine today but could not pick it up the entire day yesterday.

having the same problem with cellc and my Air3G router. refuses to connect at all! 2 days ago it kept disconnecting, now it refuses totally! strangely if I insert my cellc 1820 modem into my pc or laptop it works perfectly fine. Went further to test router with a vodacom usb modem works perfectly fine!

past few days its been a nightmare using the router and cell c modem combo whereas it worked perfectly fine all these months! any thoughts / ideas?
if modem is faulty why does this work on my pc/laptop?
if my router were faulty why is the vodacom usb modem working?

That's the mystery of this thread. Why the mods marked this one as [solved] I don't know.

Markhans, please remove the [Solved] mar on this thread. This whole issue is far from solved.
