Hi Shred

loaded firmware, seems to be more stable, just getting very hot i have the 1820 running with extension cable to window, going to get a 3G router any good ideas ?
im getting between 3-4 down load and 2- 2.50 65

My router also gets very hot even without the 3G. I have no more ideas at this stage :( You could try and power off the unit for a while and see if that helps. The frustrating thing is that I still do not know if it is a Cell C thing, a TP-Link thing or both.

FYI Cell_C is releasing a new 3G WI-FI router/ moden

MyZone is a Wi-Fi router that creates a wireless hotspot or network, thus allowing the user to share their mobile broadband internet connection across multiple devices. This include notebooks, PC , smartphones and tablets

compatible will all Cell_C :D

but cant tell to much :D will be in this month

Ok I am sick of this TP-Link thing. How can it pick up the modem some days and not pick it up other days? It just does not make sense. It works perfectly in my PC / Laptop.

TP-Link sent me a firmware for my MR-3420, version 3.12.2 Build 110222 Rel.70233n. Connected 25 hours so far.
If you want to try it, get it here.
To minimize risk of file corruption, the md5 checksum is 0B22606EE46978D36250E623CE928BDF
Use Fastsum to verify yours once downloaded.
I take no responsibility if you brick your router.

Thanks I will try it.

I think TP-Link have programmed some artificial intelligence into these things because they behave like woman. Mood swings galore.

So my latest, the router eventually picks up the modem after about 3 tries. Then it connects but there is no internet connection through it. I then connect it straight to my PC and it works fine. The amount of time I have spent with this piece of #### is crazy. It's just not consistent at all!!!

I feel for your frustration - what you are going through is the exact same issues I have and it put a smile on my face that It's not just me going through this most bizarre problem. Sorry man...
I got the Cell C ZTE MF190 USB stick + MR3420 + LDPA antenna bundle and cannot get this stable at all. Changed USB dongle to Huawei K3717 slightly better but still disconnects then has it's moments until it reconnects again. Like starting an 'old diesel engine. Been sent Firmware from DBG, none help. Either can't find the modem, disconnecting, unplugged or just stops working - then by the way of switching off or unplugging the modem and a combination of all 2 or just looking at it and praying it reconnects again. I find there is no obvious pattern, there is no obvious solution either it seems.
I'm also going to give up on this little project of mine - now do I cough up for a 3G router with integrated sim slot and hope it doesn't do the same?

Have you tested with the modem plugged in directly to pc, and have you repeatedly obtained the same results (i.e. stable on pc, unstable with router)?

I am going to try and get around to returning the device tomorrow and will let you know how it goes. The no pattern thing is the most frustrating.

Not sure if this has been brought up before...but are you guys connecting the modem directly to the router or are you using a USB extension cable?

Some USB cables aren't compatible with the router or modem. I have the TP-Link cradle connected to the modem and router.

I tried both ways. The USB cable was provided by DGB and it branded TP-Link anyway. I have tried every possible combination.

When I had my problems I also tested without the USB cable.

Yes - I use the dongle connected to a laptop and runs for 3 days without an issue.
