Yes - I use the dongle connected to a laptop and runs for 3 days without an issue.

Same here, working on it as I type this. Been working perfectly for days now. I even packed up my router because I keep on seeing it on my desk and thinking, "but let me try again surely I can get it to work" but always have the same result.

I have a thought - just maybe the MR3420's we got were an old batch - the Hardware Version 1's. I cannot be certain but it seems the latest MR3420's have hardware version 1.2, just by doing some Google search. It maybe that some that are working are properly have some kind of hardware upgrade and improvement to certain aspects of the router.

Hm... I will ask Richard when I go through there today.

OK - I tried something. In desperation - I added the 3G APN manually and put the DNS in manually. I removed the Cellcid in the username and password so it's blank. I selected WAN as the preferred connection but didn't connect anything into the port so the 3G is backup. I connected the USB modem stuck it on a burglar bar like a heatsink as I thought maybe something to do with heating up and it's been going for 11 hours+ - touch wood. Longest yet without a disconnect since getting this @#$%#! router

I don't want to break it for you but try and restart it. I had it working for a few days but when it was powered off and on again it started it's rubbish. I didn't manage to get around to do to DBG yesterday; I will try today.

Right, so I went to DBG today and Pieter tested the device. It was doing the same things and we also tried it on one of the routers that he had there. So then we tried it on the MR3220 instead as a last resort. It works on the MR3220. We restarted the device three times to make sure that it works. I am working on it as I type this.

So my suggestion would be to rather use the MR3220 with the E1820 Cell C modem. The firmware was not upgraded at all; I am too scared to try and update the firmware in case it stops working.

To Pieter at DGB, thank you very much for your patience in solving this matter it is much appreciated.

A week later, this router is still working perfectly.

About the heat!

I believe you must use a USB Y cable extension to feed more power to the USB modem. It apparently reduces heat as a single USB port cannot handle the current required at full tilt. That is for the ZTE MF668 but it may be the same for others too.

I have the MR3420 for a week now. Been having strange issues the first few days , the lights were on but no connectivity to the router, a power cycle fixed that. I then had a few issues where it would show connected but no internet traffic would work. When I plugged the modem in directly in the laptop it would work however back in the router still not working. Switched off the router for about 10 minutes and afterwards is started working correctly. I also had an issue where i disconnected the 3g in the router web interface after which the interface would go all weird and no connection. Power cycle fixed that. Last 3 days i've set the router to connect on demand only had an issue once, so far so good. Routers do seem flaky after day or 2 of operation. i have the latest firmware.
