Got a laptop - Didn't work. Sent it back. Contract cancelled within 14 day return period. They suspended my contract because I now owe R7000+

Does anyone have any senior customer consultants details for me? Or is there anyone on the forum from Vodacom who can assist?

This is a nightmare. They even suspended my TOP UP due to me reaching my credit limit.

I can't even do another application for an additional line, because it declines.

Yeah apparently the contract has been cancelled (R379 pm) but the IDIOT who did it, did not apply the hardware received changes, and now I am still liable for R7000+ (for the hardware) on the system.

Some people dont know what a phone is...

He came here for advice, if you dont have anything to contribute then gtfo.

OP i think they just made a mistake and the automated systems just do what they are supposed to. Vodacomdata will sort u out

I do know what a phone is. Dude I have been phoning and speaking to people since last week Wednesday when my contract had been suspended. No joy to date.

I apologise if I offended you with my topic.

why should you pay for their stuffup?

They said that its the system now... So I don't know. Apparently I need to call them on the 26th before they send their debit order instructions out to the banks, to see if I will be charged my normal subscription.

Yip thats whay they are saying now. But the thing is as well: I was told that in order to "replace" the faulty laptop, I would need to return it, cancel the contract and then reapply. I have done all that and because of the "system" glitch - I keep getting declined.

That's weird.
When we have an OBF for a phone they simply do a swop out without canceling the contract.

I feel your pain. Is it your intention to cancel the contract or sis you cancel because someone told you to do so? You could have misunderstood - In my recent dealings with wrong deliveries, they cancelled the order for the wrong unit and then place another order. By cancelling, it could have been related to the order only and not the contract.

Not a system glitch I say, more like you got shafted by whoever helped you. I hope you come right.

A bit OT but my wife once bought a phone cash from Vodacom. 1 month later she gets a phone call from the store telling her the phone has not been paid for. Turned out the guy at the store was taking the cash and not ringing up the phones on the system.

That is an internal matter for the store and their employee to resolve, especially if you had fairly paid for the said device

Yeah thats what I was told (with a phone), but because its a laptop and modem, it needed to be cancelled and then I would have to reapply for it.

It was not my intention. I was happy with the contract, but the laptop that they delivered was faulty. So I had to return it, and cancel the contract and then reapply online for a new one (As per the guys at Vodacom). Apparently they do not send out replacements (with laptops)... So now because of all the errors, I am not able to reapply for a new laptop...

This is not the first incident of unethical conduct by a Vodacom employee. There was a recent case where the employee forged the client's signature.

Me think someone left work that day with a big smile and a new laptop under their arm :)
