I am happy that he had the guts to come out of the closet.
But it is a bit convenient if you take into consideration that he is coming to the end of his career. Won't be surprised if he announces his retirement within the next 12 months.

It would have had a much greater impact on the game, and maybe more players would have felt confident enough to break the silence if he broke the news 3 or 4 years ago.

Saw an interview now on BBC and a few things crossed my mind....

1. Why the hell is such a big deal being made out of it? If I start playing rugby no one needs to know my sexuality. I'll continue living my life. How do you hide it for so long anyway?

2. They showed you him scoring a try. Guys were hugging him and slapping bums.... you think he enjoyed it :D ha ha

He does hold the Welsh try scoring record.

I wonder about the showers, he might have been nervous of other guys seeing him starkers.

This probably explained it! He knew if he scored a try he'd be "rewarded" with hugs and bum slaps from his team mates! ;)

Or he may have been nervous about his involuntary bodily responses at seeing them naked!! :D

That always pisses me off with gays. They get to perv in the change rooms but us heterosexual guys can't go into the ladies change rooms for a peek. And they say they have it hard (excuse the pun!) and want to be treated equally! We do too then! :)

I'm wating for Hayden and Langer to come out the closet.
Whenever they got a 50+ partnership going there was lots of hugs and rubs happening.

All the Aussies crickets are gay... in fact all Aussie sportsmen! I thought that was common knowledge already! :D

Wasnt Sean Fitzpatrick rumoured to be limp wristed ?

Maybe all these kinda quotes are the reason why people are reluctant to come out? NB - I'm not judging them, in fact I would've easily made a couple of them if I had thought of them first, but no matter how liberal some people say they are and don't care about others' sexuality, there are always comments that probably make them uncomfortable.

This is very good news! Regarding the scrum bit...when I played Rugby that was the worst part for me...having to put your head between another guys legs in that situation just is not fun guys....gay or straight!

And when we had swimming lessons and had to go change back into our school uniforms, I did not perv. It is a question of changing and start walking back to school to be on time for class.

I realize it might seem strange...but we dont perv every chance we get...well, most of us...erm...ok some of us hehe.

Unfortunately...the big audience for rugby is very much straight still and those blokes dont really wanna know that the guy that just got the winning try takes it up the erm ..... but perhaps that will slowly change. Baby steps.

I actually don't care about his private life. I personally would not condone it, but it is his choice and his own personal decision to pursue the lifestyle.

Thing is, I am more interested in the quality of rugby he plays. He is a good player and that's what's most important to me.

Well done to him though to be open about it. Going forward, I think he'll probably be ostracised a bit, which would be a pity.

Don't guys grab each other by the nuts during the scrum?
