Congrats Lions!

But you still suck. Better let "us" get a bonus point next week (not that we'll really need you to let us - we will any way).

And this is a 'Bwahaha' thread.

:p :D

If I was a Stormer supporter I would have been a very worried man right now. The Lions at Ellis Park all of a sudden seems more of an obstacle than two days ago. Believe me, the Lions will make the Stormers work hard for the points.

I have no time for the Lions any more. They were so hell bent on denying the Stormers a bonus point that they did themselves out of second last on the log.

Nothing comes on a silver platter, like it was said a few post back, the Stormers would have had to work for their points and so it happend they had to work for it, bad luck maybe next year/

I just hope it goes better in the Currie Cup with the lions.

I am actually a Lions supporter. Well I was, but not after this year. They play like idiots the whole season and then go out of their way to sc...w over the stormers. At the end of the game, they would have been able to score points and close to within 7 points. Instead they kicked it out and deserve the wooden spoon. Had they at least tried to score we could have had two other posibilities. The stormers could have scored the extra try and we would have had two teams in the finals or the Lions could have scored and they would not have finished bottom of the log.

Yes, blame the Lions because the stormers are not in the Semi's
If they won all their games they wouldn't have been where they are now. Tough shyt. I cheered for the Lions yesterday with all my heart. And we almost won :D

But we did not have to finish at the bottom of the log. That is my point. If they had at least tried in the last couple of minutes to get the extra score then the Cheetahs would be bottom of the log instead of the lions. Their attitude was not to try and win but to try and spoil the stormers. That is where my beef was. I have supported them all season through thick and thin but to not even try at the end of the game to get that all important bonus point. That is not good enough. Another 3 points would have been enough but they just kicked the ball out.

The Lions did what the Lions had to do - but this obviously didn't go down well with some. Rugby is a professional sport where every game counts. The amateur days are long gone ... and so are "handouts" (we'll roll over so that you can score bonus points ... all in the name of patriotism). I really feel for the Stormers. They obviously wanted to go through - and to have been denied by the Lions must be hard to swallow. I can understand if some Stormers fans now hate the Lions for it. I am however of the opinion that the Stormers have themselves to blame. They executed some of the basics (example: lineouts) very poorly. Brits completely imploded at 2. To accuse the Lions of being negative and mean is unfair. The Stormers should have been all over the Lions - as the Sharks have done with the Chiefs. The Sharks showed how a team should enter the semis. To conquer the mighty Crusaders requires a team that asks/expects no favours from other teams ... a team that is ruthless ... and executes the basics of the game to perfection.

I am proud of the Lions. They keep on fighting to the last - never giving up. That is what I want in a team. With a few tweaks here and there this team will become a huge force in SA rugby. I'm actually glad A Pretorius is out of Bok contention (for now). The Lions need him to build towards S14 2009.

Agreed with Bevonk and Pitbull,

There is no such thing as doing a favor, and its true if the stormers won more of their games earlyer in the season they wouldn't have had to depend on the LIONS game.

But well done LIONS at least you showed you wont go down with out a fight.

O JA ABE by the way you said that you are not supporting the lions anymore, because they had a crappy season it shows that you are not a true supporter and that when your new team have a crappy season that you will change again, in afrikaans we call that a, Draad sitter.

Stormers fan here:
It was the Stormers own fault, we had plenty of chances.

A draw last week when we shoulda won.
The previous week, we were 20-0 up after 20 min, but didn't go for the bonus point.
Lots of fumbling, knockons, and poor decision making against the Lions.

So no blaming the Lions...

Well said. The Stormers butchered at least three try scoring opportunities in the match. The ref was also trying to help the Stormers with the 2 yellow cards and the high penalty count against the Lions

No, you are misunderstanding me. I am not mad because they didn't let the Stormers score 4 tries. I am mad because they went out there and it seemed like that was their only goal. They did not even try and win. They had a chance at the end to try for a bonus point and just kicked it out. You could see on their faces that they were happy that they had not let the stormers score 4 tries. Happy with a loss. Come on. The week before they at least tried to beat the Chiefs (and did it).

The Stormers lost it the week before against the Warratahs. That is where they messed up.

The Sharks showed how a team should enter the semis. To conquer the mighty Crusaders requires a team that asks/expects no favours from other teams ... a team that is ruthless ... and executes the basics of the game to perfection.

The Sharks have not played well lately and will be hard pressed to go further. The Tahs have only conceeded 1 try in the first half of their last 6 games. I would prefer to face the Crusaders.

I'm actually glad A Pretorius is out of Bok contention (for now). The Lions need him to build towards S14 2009.

But it's always building. Every year they have a "young" side and are building for the future. It's a tired excuse from them.

O JA ABE by the way you said that you are not supporting the lions anymore, because they had a crappy season it shows that you are not a true supporter and that when your new team have a crappy season that you will change again, in afrikaans we call that a, Draad sitter.

If it was because the Lions had a crappy season then I would have stopped supporting them ages back. They have had plenty of crappy seasons lately in the name of building a future side.

My problem is with their attitude. They were happy when the game finished. Not upset. Come on, if you lose a game, you should be p..sed off has hell. They did not go into that game to win, they went in to deny the Stormers. Even at the death, they kicked it out and denied themselves a bonus point rather then take the chance of giving the stormers another try.

Against the Cheetahs (who were recently whipped by the Bulls) and the Chiefs who had just seen their title hopes go out of the window in a poor performance against the Lions. The Chiefs position on the log was sealed, they could not go any higher or lower.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the Sharks win but it will be a really tough ask.
